We all get to a point in life where we’re not happy with something and decide that’s it!…something has to change.
So many people get to this stage with their body weight or image and decide the ‘from Monday’ the diet is starting. No more take aways, no more drink and definitely no more biscuits and tea. Everything is gone on Monday and this is the start of your new healthy life, however, how many times have you or someone you know made these promises and by the time Thursday rolls around have caved and demolished half a packet of cookies after dinner?
The problem isn’t with the promises you’ve made, it’s in how you’ve implemented them. Completely cutting out all of your comforts at once is a tough thing to do and unsustainable. Willpower fades and cravings come back and if you’ve made wholesale change then something has to give. Once that one thing does give you feel like you’ve failed at all of the above and say f*%k it; everything goes out the window and you’re back to square one.
That’s the problem with all or nothing thinking, you go all in – you end up all out!
Implement your changes over time, allow for slip ups and family dinners or the odd night out, get back on track straight away afterward and continue on your path.
Realise that it’s going to be tough, that some days are going to suck and you’re going to be hungry but if can do it in a sustainable and consistent way you will get there.
Just don’t quit!
